Our Founding Story

Rainy Days Gallery began as a vision shaped by lived experience, deep curiosity, and the belief that art can bring people together in powerful ways.

Founded by Jordan Slemmer, a lifelong art lover with a background in curation, entrepreneurship, and cultural programming. The gallery was born from a desire to create more than just a space to view art. After years of working across museums, galleries, and creative businesses, Jordan recognized the need for a space that prioritized emotional connection, inclusivity, and bold expression. A space that challenged traditional gatekeeping and amplified emerging and underrepresented voices.

The name Rainy Days reflects a core philosophy: that creativity often rises from moments of introspection, uncertainty, or transformation. On our hardest days, art has the power to uplift, inspire, and remind us of our shared humanity. We believe art should not only spark joy—but reflect the full complexity of the human experience.

Since opening, Rainy Days Gallery has become a home for contemporary artists pushing the boundaries of their craft whether through oil painting, mixed media, sculpture, photography, or digital installation. Each exhibition is curated to ignite conversation and help audiences see the world and themselves a little differently.

Our Historic Space at 3535 Walnut Street

Rainy Days Gallery is housed in a landmark 1923 brick warehouse located in Denver’s vibrant RiNo Art District. Originally built for industrial use, the building once served as a hub for machinery and metalworks, including the Denver Metal & Machinery Company. Its open layout and industrial bones reflect the creative energy and history that defines the neighborhood.

Over the decades, 3535 Walnut Street has evolved from a working warehouse into a space of community and culture—hosting everything from editorial offices to a 24/7 health clinic. In 2006, the building underwent a major renovation, preserving its architectural character while opening the door to a new generation of creative use.

Today, this restored historic warehouse is home to Rainy Days Gallery—where industrial past meets contemporary art. The building’s legacy of transformation mirrors our mission: to honor what came before while creating space for bold expression, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
